The new Kia Carens Clavis made its virtual global debut and in essence, it is positioned as a premium version of the Carens currently on sale. The word Clavis comes from 'Clavis Aurea' which is Latin-speak for 'Golden Key', where Kia says that the new model holds the key to family happiness. The Carens Clavis adopts Kia's latest 'Opposites United' design language, giving it a more modern and robust appearance, something that you would find on SUVs. At the front, L-shaped LED daytime running lights are connected by a sleek light bar, flanking new 'Ice Cube' LED headlights - a design cue seen on Kia's global EV line-up. Revised front and rear bumpers, 17-inch dual-tone alloy wheels, and a fresh set of 'Starmap' connected LED tail-lamps add further distinction between the two MPVs. A new 'Ivory Silver' exterior paint option is also on offer on the Carens Clavis.

Step inside, and the Clavis sets itself apart from the Carens with a significantly reimagined dashboard layout. The highlights are a new 26.62-inch dual-screen setup, integrating a full-digital driver's display and a central infotainment touchscreen into a seamless panel. Adding to the premium feel are features like a panoramic sunroof, which you don't see on the Carens. Other features include ventilated front seats, an in-built air purifier, and a premium Bose sound system. Another segment-first feature on the Kia Carens Clavis is the powered, one-touch double-folding second-row seat, designed to ease access to the third row. The Carens Clavis also debuts Kia's Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) suite in this segment, offering more than 20 safety and convenience features. These include autonomous emergency braking, lane keep assist, rear cross-traffic alert and more.

Under the hood, the Clavis shares its engine lineup with the Carens, including a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol, a 1.5-litre turbo-petrol, and a 1.5-litre diesel engine. Kia has confirmed that the 1.5 turbo-petrol will be offered with a manual transmission, expanding options for enthusiasts and value-conscious buyers.

Prices of the Carens Clavis will be announced on June 2, 2025 and the Clavis will be available in seven trim levels: HTE, HTE(O), HTK, HTK+, HTK+(O), HTX, and HTX+. This wide variant lineup is expected to cater to a broad range of customer preferences and budgets and the new MPV will be positioned above the current Kia Carens, which will continue to be on sale. The current Kia Carens is priced from Rs. 10.6 lakh to Rs. 19.7 lakh (ex-showroom). Expect prices of the Kia Carens Clavis to start at Rs. 11 lakh and go up to Rs. 21 lakh (ex-showroom).
