Ather Energy has filed the design patent for its EL01 electric scooter concept in India, sparking speculation that the model may feature in the company's upcoming product lineup. First unveiled during Ather's Community Day celebrations, the EL01 stands out as the inaugural concept built on the brand's newly developed EL platform. The patent filing not only protects its distinctive design but also signals Ather's intent to expand its portfolio with future-ready electric mobility solutions.
Since it entered the market, Ather Energy has relied on a single platform that supports its two scooters- the 450 and the Rizta lineup. That approach shifted a few months ago with the introduction of the modular EL platform, engineered to accommodate three different scooter categories. Building on this, Ather has now filed a design patent for an upcoming model. Interestingly, the design bears a strong resemblance to the EL01 working concept showcased during the company's Community Day 2025.

Ather's newly filed design patent showcases a family-focused electric scooter with a practical yet stylish silhouette. Standout elements include a spacious floorboard, a long single-piece seat designed for comfort, and an apron-mounted LED headlamp that adds a modern flair. The concept showcased with 14-inch wheels hints at stability and presence, though it remains uncertain whether this feature will carry forward to the production version, leaving room for anticipation around the final model.

Ather's new EL platform is designed to accommodate battery packs ranging from 2kWh to 5kWh, offering flexibility across different scooter categories. The EL01 concept showcased this versatility with a 14-inch front and 12-inch rear alloy wheel setup, paired with a swingarm-mounted motor. A massive 7-inch TFT display was also part of the package, and given Ather's reputation for loading its scooters with advanced tech, such features are expected to make their way into the production version.

For now, EL-based products will run alongside Ather's existing lineup, ensuring continuity while gradually expanding the company's portfolio with more versatile and future-ready offerings.
