Several other sports personalities and their relatives, tried their luck in the assembly polls and prominent winner among them is former cricketer Navjot Singh Sidhu's wife.

Sidhu himself is a BJP MP from Amritsar and his wife Dr Navjot Kaur today won from the Amritsar-East constituency, defeating her nearest rival Independent candidate Simarpreet Kaur by a margin of 7099 votes.
