DMK Chief Slams Tamil Nadu Government for 'Delayed' Relief Measures
Chennai: Hitting out at ruling AIADMK for "delayed" relief measures to flood-affected people, DMK chief Karunanidhi today said his party has started distributing relief without depending on the state.

Stating that he did not wish to blame the government at this juncture when the state was grappling with the aftermath of floods, he said, "they did not take the steps that should have taken in the beginning."

"They have now taken delayed steps to some extent," he told reporters here and added that "they are satisfying the affected people to the extent possible."

Earlier, he inspected relief material deposited by party workers at the DMK headquarters, "Anna Arivalayam" and instructed functionaries to dispatch them to beneficiaries.

"That is why (as the State has taken delayed measures), we have embarked on such relief work without depending on the government," he said.
