Bangalore police chief slams IPL over venue shift
NDTV Correspondent, Sunday April 18, 2010, Bangalore
Bangalore Police Commissioner, Shankar Bidari, has slammed the IPL's decision to move out semi-finals from the city, calling the decision 'unfair due to false presumption'.

"If BCCI doesn't reverse decision, it will commit a serious mistake. We never said can't provide security for semi-finals," the Bangalore police chief said.

He also said that the police have assured protection for semi-finals.

The IPL organisers have shifted the semi-final match to Navi Mumbai citing security reasons after twin blasts rocked the Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bagalore just before the match between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Mumbai Indians. Four people were injured in the blasts.

The semi-finals are scheduled for April 21 and 22.

While agree that no venue is safe ans there no one city that can be singled out as being safe or having adequate protection. Its the same bunch of nitwits looking after security in India, highly lethargic, bureaucratic, selfish and corrupt lot. Why is Bidari blaming IPL because he just wants to take media attention away from the serious lapse that the cops under him did. Why the hell couldnt the cops identify a stray package at such a high profile venue. Stop blaming others and start working. DONT hide behind excuses we have had enough!

IPL, or should I say Modi's, decision sounds suspicious. No one has claimed responsibility for the bombing... Happens just before the semi-finals... venue is shifted... I really wouldn't put anything past Modi
