Train Services Hit on CR Due to Technical Failure

People staged a rail roko at Diva station. (mid-day)

Mumbai: On the second day of 2015 the train services on Central Railway experienced severe trouble due to technical failure coupled with probable rail roko.

At around 6.30 am the pantograph of a CST bound train broke near Thakurli station.

Sources said that at least three pantographs got damaged and the train came to a standstill with huge sparks. This train was coming from Badlapur station.

Soon after another Kalyan-CST train apparently also experienced similar technical failure. Thus the entire slow line towards CST crumbled in the morning peak hours. Even the fast train services got affected as trains were being diverted.

At around 9.15 am or so people apparently also staged a rail roko at Diva station and they came on tracks in huge numbers. Many were seen walking on tracks towards Dombivali station.

Apparently, police lathicharged people who gathered on the tracks and in return got hit by stones.
