After CWG gold, my next target is Asian Games: Ravinder
New Delhi: After clinching his maiden Commonwealth Games gold medal, India's Greco-Roman wrestler Ravinder Singh on Wednesday said his eyes are now focussed on next month's Asian Games in Guangzhou, China.

Ravinder clinched the gold in the 55kg Greco-Roman style defeating Pakistan's Azhar Hussain 11-0 in a one-sided final.

"My next target is Asian Games and Olympic qualifiers. This win gave me confidence that in future we can win medals in the Asian Games," a jubilant Ravinder said after his victory.

Despite bleeding from the lips after suffering a cut during the bout, the Indian grappler stood firm and did not give away any breathing space to his Pakistani opponent.

Asked whether the bleeding was playing on his mind during the bout, he said, "It did not effect me much but yes, there was plenty of bleeding."

Ravinder might be happy with his feat, but his compatriot in the 84kg, Manoj Kumar, who had to be satisfied with the silver medal, was a disappointed man but said he is now determined to pocket the yellow metal in the upcoming Asian Games.

"My aim was to win the gold medal but I missed the opportunity because of my own fault. But in the Asian Games, I will try to win the gold," Manoj said.

Meanwhile, bronze medallist in the 66kg Sunil Kumar said he was happy to have contributed to India's medals tally in the Delhi Games.

"I am not upset. I am proud to win a medal for the country. I had prepared well for the Games but luck did not favour me this time," he said.
