A fun Bollywood-style travel reel filmed by Indian tourists in Vietnam has now turned into a full-blown internet debate. What was meant to be a playful Chaiyya Chaiyya moment at Hanoi's famous Train Street has ended up drawing heavy criticism online, with social media users arguing over tourist behaviour, travel etiquette, and the growing obsession with making reels everywhere.

Vietnam's Hanoi Train Street Became Latest Viral Spot For Indian Tourists

The now-viral video was shared by Shweta Jain and showed her along with friends dancing on the railway tracks at Hanoi Train Street. The group danced to the iconic Bollywood song Chaiyya Chaiyya, made famous by Shah Rukh Khan's unforgettable train-top sequence from the film Dil Se. The video had a text overlay that read, "Vietnam ke Train Street gaye aur Chhaiyaa Chhaiyaa nahi kiya toh kya Train Street gaye."

The clip showed the group dancing and posing along the narrow railway lane while tourists and cafes surrounded the tracks. Over the last few years, this street has become one of Vietnam's biggest social media hotspots. Tourists often visit specifically to click pictures, sip coffee beside the tracks, and shoot reels. So when the Indian group recreated 'Chaiyya Chaiyya' there, they probably expected laughs and likes. Instead, the internet exploded with criticism.

Social Media Users Were Not Impressed

As the video spread online, many people said the behaviour looked embarrassing and added to negative stereotypes about Indian tourists abroad. One frustrated user wrote, "I have been to Vietnam many times, travelling there since 2018. Currently they just hate Indians. I have seen their behaviour change towards Indians recently, and now I know the reason. Please stop doing such behaviour because people like us have to face racism because of people like you."

Another comment read, "No wonder even Vietnam doesn't want such tourists." Some users felt people are becoming too obsessed with making reels and dancing videos at every location they visit. One user commented, "Tell you are an Indian without telling you are Indian." Another asked, "But why dance everywhere????"

One sarcastic user joked, "They are helping to boost domestic tourism by getting banned by other countries." Meanwhile, some comments turned humorous rather than angry. One person even criticised the dance performance itself, writing, "No coordination ... at least dance toh dhang sey kerte."
Not everyone agreed with the outrage and defended the tourists. Several users pointed out that Hanoi Train Street is literally known for tourists making videos and posing for social media content. According to them, the group was simply enjoying themselves like thousands of other travellers who visit the place every day. One person commented, "It's all fine. You are enjoying your moment."
