According to a report published by GOBankingRates, Aspen, Colorado, is the most expensive tourist destination in the US year-round. A three-day trip to this snowy location for two adults would cost around $2,708 - broken down into over $1,300 for flights, $791 for a three-night hotel stay, and $510 for meals and drinks at mid-range to budget-friendly eateries.

Santa Barbara, California, ranks second on the list, with a three-day trip for two adults costing around $2,446. Anchorage, Alaska - a popular starting point for wilderness explorers - came in third, followed by Bar Harbor, Maine, an upscale summer destination, in fourth place. Fairbanks, Alaska, an Arctic - adjacent magnet for adventure seekers, ranked fifth.

On the other end of the spectrum, the study found that cities in Florida offered the most affordable travel options, with an average cost of $1,630 - making them slightly more budget-friendly than those in California. Interestingly, Branson, Missouri, was found to have the cheapest beer, averaging just $3.50.

Some of the country's most popular destinations ranked surprisingly low on the list. Clearwater, Florida - famous for its beaches - ranked 55th, with a cost of $1,630 or less for two adults. Similarly, Kissimmee, located near Orlando, ranked 54th, while Orlando itself came in at 52nd.
