As uncertainty continues to ripple across global aviation following the sudden closure of West Asian airspace, stories from stranded travellers have started surfacing online. Among them is an appreciation post shared by X user, Pune-based tech Ershad Kaleebullah @r3dash, who was stuck in Doha as operations paused across the region. What unfolded over the next several hours, he wrote, was a demonstration of “remarkable care”, with Qatar Airways and Hamad International Airport stepping in to ensure passengers remained safe, comfortable and well‑supported throughout the disruption.

What The Passenger Described In His Viral Post

In his detailed thread posted on X on March 1, the traveller thanked Qatar Airways and Hamad International Airport (HIA) Doha for going “above and beyond” in managing stranded passengers. He shared that food coupons were handed out to everyone at the airport, allowing them to freely redeem meals at the food court -“for all meals, no less,” he noted.

The user and his family had decided to rest in the airport lounge while waiting for updates. They fell asleep around 10:30 pm, only to be woken at 12:30 am by staff who informed them that the entire airport was being evacuated, including airport employees. Despite the urgency, he said the process was “handled smoothly,” with staff calmly guiding passengers to the transfer desk. What stood out most to him was the attitude of the airport teams. “Every single staff was attentive and answering questions with a smile… even when they didn't have answers,” he added.

Once evacuated, passengers were transported to five‑star hotels across Doha, with rooms, breakfast, lunch and dinner fully arranged. According to the user, the airline assured them that accommodation and meals would continue to be covered “for as long as the airspace is shut.” He added that updates were now being communicated through their hotel, calling the staff at Pullman Doha “incredibly kind, responsive, and humorous despite the pressure. We are staying safe, as safe as we possibly can,” he wrote, expressing gratitude for how the situation was handled.
