Imagine sitting down for a beer with your partner, clinking glasses, laughing, and sharing stories, only to realise you are not actually in the same country. Sounds like something out of sci-fi, right? Well, for one adventurous travel vlogger couple, it was real life. In a clip on Instagram, the couple demonstrated this one-of-a-kind experience. One of them sits on the Belgian side of the table, the other in the Netherlands, and together they toast like any couple would. "So you think I'm having a beer at a normal table, but I'm not because of this little line over here," the vlogger explains, pointing to the international border running through their table.

"Wait... they're literally in different countries," the caption read. "Baarle-Nassau, Baarle-Hertog."

This isn't some trick table or futuristic teleportation. It is Baarle-Hertog, a small Belgian town that's stitched into the Netherlands in the most unusual way. Baarle-Hertog belongs to Belgium but is mostly surrounded by Dutch territory in the province of North Brabant. Its neighbour, Baarle-Nassau, is Dutch, and the border between them isn't a single neat line. It zigzags through the town, cutting across streets, sidewalks, and even buildings, including the town hall.

Instead of walls or fences, the border is marked by white crosses painted on the ground. You can stand with one foot in Belgium and the other in the Netherlands, or even live in a house split between two countries. Street signs and plaques help point out which nation you're standing in.

The video went viral soon. Take a look at the comments section:

One wrote, "Why have one beer in one country when you can have 2 beers in 2 countries?" A user commented, "Divided by borders, united by beer."

"Bro was dating internationally and face-to-face both at the same time," a comment read. Another joked, "Is this what a long-distance relationship looks like?"

"Adding this to the bucket list," read a comment. Someone said, "Omg if you both stand with one foot on each side, then you can be in 2 places at once, having beers, a Walk to Remember style! sooo romantic!!"

With just under 10,000 residents, Baarle-Hertog has cosy streets, cafes, and local shops.
