- Content Creator shares tips for vegetarians struggling to find food abroad, especially in Europe
- He advised carrying ready-to-eat Indian food and snacks in your suitcase for convenience
- Vegetarian options abroad often are limited to Margherita pizza or plain burgers
Travelling abroad is always exciting, but it comes with its own little challenges - especially if you are a vegetarian. You think about trying all the local cuisines, clicking those perfect food pictures, and soaking in the culture. But then reality hits: finding decent vegetarian food can be tougher than you imagined. Europe, for instance, has amazing sights, but when it comes to vegetarian food, sometimes you end up surviving on the bare minimum.
Recently, content creator Chetan Goel shared a video on Instagram that perfectly summed up this struggle. He gave some straight-up hilarious advice for anyone planning an international trip, especially to Europe.
He started with a simple but important tip to always listen to your mom when she advices you to carry some ready-to-eat Indian food and theplas in your suitcase. He made it clear that there is nothing uncool about carrying your own food. No one is going to judge you for it, and your travel vibe will not suffer either.

The actor went on to explain the real struggle of finding vegetarian food abroad: "Kyunki tum jo soch rahe ho na ki yeh sab lekar jaunga to it is not cool, that is not how you travel. Vegetarian ho to bahar jaake daana ni milega khaane ko. [You might think carrying your own food is not cool, but the truth is, as a vegetarian, you will not find much to eat outside.]"
He also warned about those "cool" friends who say they will just eat out: they will end up begging for food on the fifth night, and saying, "Bhai, kuch khane me dede. Bahut bhukh lag rahi hai. [Bro, give me something to eat. I am really hungry.]"
Chetan continued that finding vegetarian options in Europe often means settling for a Margherita pizza or a plain burger. Indian restaurants are expensive, and the food might not even be good. He joked, "450 rupaye ka butter naan kaise chabau? [How am I supposed to chew a 450-rupee butter naan?]"

Pack smart and do not overthink the "cool" factor. Carry ready-to-eat packets, snacks and some comfort food. For vegetarians, it is better to be prepared than hungry. It would be ok to pack fewer clothes, but do carry lots of snacks - let food be your travel buddy.
The viral video has clocked more than 2 million views. Here is how the internet reacted:
A user wrote, "Recently this happened with me on my Vietnam tour... wish you had made this reel earlier!" Another one added, "OMG, that margarita pizza was so correct."
Someone joked, "Itna sach bhi nahi bolna tha. [You did not have to be that honest.]" A traveller commented, "I was drinking juice and smoothies."
"The painful realization," echoed a few.
