Air India will operate a series of additional flights to Europe, New York, the Maldives and Sri Lanka over the next week, as international travel continues to be affected by the ongoing conflict in West Asia. The airline said demand for dependable long-haul connections has remained high, prompting the introduction of more capacity on nine routes between March 10 and 18, 2026.

The carrier plans to run 78 extra flights, adding 17,660 seats in both directions. Services will cover key European cities, including London, Frankfurt, Paris, Amsterdam and Zurich, along with New York's JFK airport, though the US flights remain subject to regulatory clearance. Additional regional flights to Male and Colombo are also part of the temporary expansion.

Following Are The 9 Routes:

1.    Delhi-New York (JFK)

2.   Delhi-London (Heathrow)

3.   Mumbai-London (Heathrow)

4.   Delhi-Frankfurt

5.   Delhi-Paris (CDG)

6.   Delhi-Amsterdam

7.   Delhi-Zurich

Wide-body Boeing 787-8 aircraft will operate the European sectors, while the Maldives and Sri Lanka routes will use Airbus A320neo aircraft. The proposed New York flights are intended to run with Boeing 777-300ER aircraft.

Air India said it has continued to maintain regular long-haul operations despite the geopolitical challenges in the region, using alternative flight paths assessed to be safe. Nipun Aggarwal, the airline's Chief Commercial Officer, noted that the extra services aim to support passengers whose travel options have been limited due to the situation.

Tickets for the additional services are being released gradually across Air India's booking channels, including the airline's website, mobile app and authorised travel agents.

Earlier today, an IndiGo flight from Delhi to Manchester was forced to turn back mid-air after flying for about seven hours, following last-minute airspace restrictions linked to the ongoing tensions in the Middle East. Read more about it here.
