Mumbai's first and Maharashtra's second underground metro, Line 3 (Colaba-Bandra-SEEPZ), is set to be launched by PM Narendra Modi next month.

The financial capital of the country, Mumbai, is set to get its first underground metro (Aqua Line) on July 24, BJP's general secretary Vinod Tawde said in a post on "X".

The Noida-Greater Noida Metro will begin passenger services from 6 am on Sunday.

The Noida-Greater Noida Metro will run after 2 pm on Wednesday on account of Holi, officials said on Tuesday. On Wednesday, the metro services will not be available till 2 pm, Noida Metro Rail Corporation managing director Ritu Maheshwari said.

Mr Taneja was arrested on Saturday after his followers gathered at Sector 51 metro station of the Aqua Line in Noida on Saturday to celebrate his birthday upon his request.

With 26,554 passengers, the Noida-Greater Noida Metro has achieved its highest single-day ridership post the COVID-19 lockdown, while the average daily ridership stands at nearly 17,000, officials said on Tuesday.

Metro services will resume in Noida from June 9. Officials have however said people should travel only if necessary and strictly follow Covid protocols.

In order to reduce the travel time of Aqua Line commuters, the Noida Metro Rail Corporation (NMRC) on Tuesday said it has decided to introduce "fast trains" which will skip stations having low ridership during peak hours.
