Claimed to be the first of its kind in India, a matrimonial website exclusively for cancer survivors is being launched in Kerala.
St George Orthodox Youth movement of St Mary's Orthodox church at Koorthamala in Pathnamthitta district has come out with the innovative website for cancer survivors aged between 20-35.
The website www.insightmatrimony.com seeks to search for suitable brides and grooms from among cancer survivors and will be formally launched by Additional Director General of Police K Padmakumar on March 9 at the church premises.
Eminent oncologist V P Gangadharan and Senior Metropolitan of Mar Thoma church Malankara Orthodox church Philipose Mar Chrysostom, will be among those participating.
Well known oncologists in Kerala would counsel and prepare the cancer survivors willing to tie the knot. They would also brief both the parties about the history of their disease and the current medical condition, Assistant vicar of St Mary's church Orthodix Parish church Mathai Zacharia told reporters.
Despite recovering from the disease, many unmarried survivors find it difficult to lead a normal life, he said, adding the website, which will become fully functional from March 9, is expected to bring cheer to their lives.
