A Class 10 student from a private school in Hyderabad died of injuries.
A Class 10 student from a private school in Hyderabad died of injuries on Friday allegedly from a fall at school during lunch.
The school management and classmates of Shaik Mohd Aamir said he had a fall and suffered injuries at the back of his head. His father Rafeeq, however, said they had shifted him to the Osmania Hospital from a private hospital, as they could not afford the treatment cost.
"I got a call saying my son is vomiting. I was having lunch and rushed. He was healthy when he came from home. Suddenly he became so ill. We had to take him to emergency in a private hospital and then shifted him to the Osmania Hospital, as treatment was going to be very expensive. A senior doctor at Osmania asked me how he got injured. I said he fell. The doctor said this injury is not due to a fall. The boy never gained consciousness,'' Mr Rafeeq said.
Angry locals went to the school and demanded an explanation from the management after which the school principal was taken by the police for questioning.
The police has registered a case of suspicious death and have sent the body for post-mortem examination. Further action is likely to be taken based on forensic reports.
