'Guess The Location': IAF's Suryakiran Team's Challenge On Twitter

A picture shared by the aerobatic demonstration team of the Indian Air Force

The aerobatic demonstration team of the Indian Air Force (IAF), Suryakiran, has shared a series of four photographs on its official Twitter handle of its aircraft flying over an incredibly overwhelming location, and asked users on Twitter to identify it. The aerial shots showed a mighty river flowing underneath an unbelievably long bridge dissecting the landscape in two parts. Seven colourful Suryakiran aircraft could be seen flying over the riverbed and across the bridge. Interestingly, there appears to be no traffic on the bridge at the time the photos were taken. “Guess the location,” the Suryakiran Aerobatic Team asked users on Twitter.

At the time of writing, the post had been liked by over 8,000 people, with many even responding to the challenge and guessing the location.

Most users appeared convinced that the photos were taken over the Bogibeel Bridge, India's longest rail-come-road bridge across the Brahmaputra river in Assam.

One user also came up with a full description of the bridge and its usefulness in the region.

A few users also shared images that showed the massive bridge in its entirety.

Another user commented, “You guys are everywhere.”

While one user welcomed the Suryakiran team in Assam, another wondered why there was no traffic on the bridge.

The Bogibeel Bridge was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in December 2018. The iconic bridge connects the south bank of the Brahmaputra river in Assam's Dibrugarh with Silapathar in Dhemaji district, bordering Arunachal Pradesh. With the completion of the bridge, the rail distance between Dhemaji and Dibrugarh was reduced from 500 kilometres to 100 kilometres. Construction of the bridge had begun in 2002 under then Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee.

Last year, the Suryakiran Aerobatics Team had taken part in a flypast over the Dubai skyline, along with the UAE's Al Fursan Display Team. Nine Hawk 132s of the Suryakiran team flew over prominent landmarks in Dubai such as Burj Khalifa, Palm Jumeirah and Burj Al Arab.

Before that, in October 2021, the Suryakiran Aerobatics Team had taken part in a low-level flypast over Mumbai to mark the Swarnim Vijay Varsh or 50 years since the war of 1971. They flew from North to South Mumbai over Andheri, the Bandra-Worli Sea Link and Gateway of India.
