Jai and Veeru in Sholay. Karan Arjun. Amar Akbar Anthony. Amitabh Bachchan and Shashi Kapoor in film after film. Bollywood has a long history of screen bromances and sometimes - at least five times in the recent past - the reel brotherliness has been for real.
Here are five mega bromance moments, starring the Khans, Sylvester Stallone, Varun Dhawan, Ranbir Kapoor and AIB Roastees Arjun Kapoor and Ranveer Singh.
1. Keeping up With the Khans on TwitterIf you have not been living under a rock or incapacitated in some way, you know that Salman and Shah Rukh Khan conducted a Khan-sized public feud for six-odd years. They were friends and co-stars in Karan Arun, then bitter enemies, and are now friends again.
Salman's much awaited movie 'Bajrangi Bhaijaan' now seems to have brought together the Khan trinity.
On May 26, Shah Rukh and Aamir revealed the first look of the movie on Twitter, SRK adding a brotherly note to his tweet. In return, Salman sent back a thank you note on Twitter, asking 'allah' to bless SRK and Aamir and their fans. Overlook the fact that Salman misspelt both their names, and you know it's the perfect bromance moment for the three Khans, played out for all to see on Twitter.
2. Salman and Sylvester Stallone: A Bromance on Twitter Just days before SRK and Aamir's Bajrangi favour, Salman Khan was on tweeting up a storm about a Hollywood star he has grown up 'following' - Sylvester Stallone.
He first praised the Rocky star for his great body, his skills as a director and for being a great human being. Salman also asked his 12 million fans on Twitter to follow 'aapke hero ka hero.' Next thing we know, Sylvester Stallone was thanking Salman and telling him they ought to do a film together. In fact, he couldn't stop tweeting about Salman: So, after this epic bromance on social media, will we get to see an on-screen bromance soon?
3. Kamaal Karte Ho, Salman Tells Varun Dhawan Salman also proved just why Bollywood addresses him as 'Bhai' by responding to being replaced by younger actor Varun Dhawan in a movie with this tweet.
Salman was quite a sport about the move. He promptly congratulated Varun on Twitter. Karan Johar had announced on Twitter that Varun Dhawan would be doing his new movie Shuddhi instead of Salman who is currently involved in several court cases. In July, he will be appealing on the Bombay High Court against the five-year sentence he was handed in the hit-and-run case.
Varun Dhawan responded, promising to make 'Bhai' proud.
4. Jai and Veeru, Make Way for BFFS Ranbir Kapoor and Ayan Mukherji Actor Ranbir Kapoor and director Ayan Mukherji aren't just collaborators on films, they are also best friends. In various interviews, the director has described their relationship as 'an old marriage' and has also been quoted as saying that he can't see beyond Ranbir.
In turn, Ranbir has been spotted partying with Ayan many times, often without girlfriend Katrina Kaif.
In fact, Ayan Mukherji hasn't even made a movie without Ranbir in it. It started with Wake Up Sid in 2008, then there was Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani in 2013. And now, reports say, he is working on an untitled superhero film that stars - no prize for guessing - Ranbir Kapoor.
5. Baba Log - Ranveer Singh and Arjun Kapoor These two actors take Bollywood bromance to a whole new level. They starred in Gunday together and were Roasted by comedy collective AIB.
Before SRK and Aamir did it for Salman, these two were promoting each other's films. Like all the famous bros, they have a nickname for each other - Baba. They not only party together, they also post the same photos on Twitter, on the same day.
They've been each other's Babas even before they looked the way they do now. See them together, and you will probably start believing in true love.
