10 Things Nobody Tells You About Being An Adult

10 Things Nobody Tells You About Being An Adult

What's an adult problem nobody prepared you for?

New Delhi: Being an adult is hard. You have to work hard to make and save money, navigate tricky office politics, learn how to make new friends but try to keep old ones too, and come to terms with ageing parents. Surprisingly, there doesn't seem to be anyone preparing us for the particular challenges of being a grown up. So when Lauren Chanel Allen asked her over 12,000 Twitter followers to tell her about an "adult problem" that they wished someone had prepared them for, the responses came flooding in. They ranged from the very relatable (folding fitted sheets) to the ridiculous (the importance of quality toilet paper) and downright heartbreaking (grief, failure and toxic relationships).

Here are a few of our favourite responses, in no particular order:

1. You can't actually eat everything you want and remain healthy for very long

2. The importance of learning how to cook yourself a healthy meal

3. The struggle is real

4. To do lists are essential and there's nothing as satisfying as crossing things off them

5. Making money is kind of important

6. And saving money is even more important

7. Mattresses on the floor and old trunks can't serve as furniture forever

8. Realising your parents won't be around forever is truly terrifying

9. Growing up and apart is hard

10. Okay, the list is long
