Thane: A 20-year-old woman was allegedly attacked, and injured, with a blade by a 22-year-old man known to her in Thane near Mumbai on Monday night. She had reportedly turned down his proposal for marriage some time back. Later, in an attempt to end his life, the man is said to have consumed poison.
The girl was rushed to the hospital by passers-by and is said to be out of danger. The man is reportedly in a critical condition at a local hospital.
Police have charged the accused with attempt to murder under Section 307 of the Indian Penal Code.
The accused allegedly confronted the woman near a railway bridge crossing, as she was returning from work, at around 9.45 pm on Monday night. Police said that he slashed her in the neck with a blade. Both of them are residents of Kopri colony in Thane. Police said that further investigations are on.
