A delivery arranged through a mobile app turned into a costly incident after a delivery worker allegedly fled with two iPhones worth around Rs 1.3 lakh in Mumbai's Ghatkopar area. The case involves a store named iPlanet, which had planned to send two iPhones from its Ghatkopar outlet to another branch in Thane. To transport the devices, the store booked a delivery through the Porter app.

According to the complaint, the delivery worker arrived at the store on time, collected the phones, and began the journey towards Thane. However, after travelling some distance, he allegedly cancelled the ride midway on the app and disappeared with the devices.

When store staff attempted to contact him, his phone was switched off and he stopped responding to calls. After searching for the delivery worker without success, the store approached the police.

A case has been registered at the Parksite Police Station under charges of theft and fraud. Police officials have begun an investigation and are using app data and mobile location records to trace the accused.

The incident has raised concerns over the safety and reliability of app-based delivery services, especially when transporting high-value items.
