Take Cues From Anushka On How To Practice A Healthy Life For Your Child

Anushka Sharma and Virat Kohli have chosen to keep their personal life under wraps and their children out of the limelight. However, at an event in Mumbai the actress opened up to an audience and made many revelations about her personal life. The couple are proud parents to a daughter, Vamika and son, Akaay. The actress shared her parenting tips on how she inculcates ahealthy life for their children. She said that she and her husband Virat eat dinner at 5:30pm with daughter Vamika. She stated, “It started out as convenience because my daughter would want her dinner early. She would eat at around 5:30 and most of the time, it would be me and her home alone. So, I'd think what am I going to do now, might as well sleep. I started to see the benefits—I slept better, felt fresher in the morning, there was less brain fog. That works for me. I didn't read it somewhere and started following it. It was out of convenience but it's now something that the entire family does.”

She further disclosed how having a fixed routine for kids is very important and she maintains one for her kids, despite their frequent travels as a family. “I am very particular about routine. We travel a lot as a family, and my kids experience many changes in their lives. So, by creating a routine for them, I am giving them a sense of control. Meal times are fixed—no matter where we are, we eat at the same time and sleep at the same time. It helps regulate themselves much better”, she explained.

She also revealed that she and her husband personally prepare meals for their children so that they can pass their mothers' recipes to the next generation.

The actress also spoke about how she and Virat do not believe in becoming “perfect parents”. She said they complain about things before their kids to show that they are flawed and that it is okay to have flaws. As per Anushka, this eases the pressure on the kids to be perfect.

When talking about teaching their kids the values of life, she said, “My daughter is very young, and I don't think I can teach her anything directly. It's more about how we live our lives. Are we showing gratitude to others in our daily lives? That's what children learn from”.
