Sonam Kapoor's Rule-Breaking Sarees Are Anything But Conventional

It wouldn't be wrong to assume that every outfit Sonam Kapoor wears, it immediately sets off style trends. None of her looks are ever ordinary and probably that's what makes it all the more interesting to see her each time. Her fans know that when she steps out, it has to be in the most stylish manner possible. She is not afraid to break style rules or experiment with conventional designs to give it a glamorous makeover. A perfect case in point is her habit of playing around with the traditional Indian attire - saree.

While sarees have come a long way with so many trendy designs - who can forget the likes of pant-sarees and dhoti drapes? - Sonam Kapoor has been one of the forerunners to give it a modern spin and make sarees look exceptionally cool. Remember the time she wore a pale pink, cape-style net saree designed by Anamika Khanna at the 67th Cannes Film Festival? Or the structured black and blue saree by designer Rimzim Dadu that she wore another year?

Seems like her habit of experimenting with saree is far from over. Even during her recent promotions for her upcoming films Veere di Wedding and Sanju, she has been sporting a whole new range of sarees that are anything but conventional. In Rajkumar Hirani's Sanju, a biopic on Sanjay Dutt, Sonam stars opposite Ranbir Kapoor to play the role of one of Sanjay Dutt's love interests. For the launch of the trailer, Sonam turned up the glamour quotient dressed in a mauve chiffon saree by Gaurav Gupta. The highlight of her look was the matching cape with micro pleats.

For a promotional event for Veere di Wedding, Sonam looked radiant in an all-gold saree by Rashmi Varma. Not only did she make the cropped saree look chic, but effortlessly teamed it with a matching tunic with smock detail rather than going for a standard blouse.

Sonam even introduced us to the denim saree this summer! Really, who would have thought there could be such a thing? Designed by Diksha Khanna, the ripped denim saree was made of different washes with distressed areas over the drape, which she paired with a white shirt.
