Bollywood is filled with bevies of beautiful women and surprisingly enough, many of them are sisters. Or perhaps not surprising, given that so much of the film industry is a family affair. Yes, Bollywood has a history of sisters joining each other in the film industry, working together and stepping out in style. Seems like the gene really does run in the family. Here are six of the most popular sisters that have made their way through Bollywood film industry, hand-in-hand.
1. Sonam And Rhea Kapoor
One of the most popular pair of B-wood siblings, these two are responsible for Sonam's style icon status. While Sonam is an actress and more popularly, a fashionista, Rhea is her stylist along with being a film producer, the much-awaited Veere Di Wedding being her latest. Most of Sonam's breath-taking, bold looks like her recent yellow dress have been styled by Rhea. Who knows your style better than your own sis, am I right?
2. Kajol And Tanisha Mukherjee
Coming from a renowned film industry family, it's unsurprising that both Kajol and Tanisha landed in Bollywood. Their mother Tanuja was also one of a pair of famous sisters - her older sibling was actress Nutan. While Kajol's long-spanning career has been full of hit films and brand endorsements, Tanisha hasn't quite had the same impact. Besides a few movies like Sarkar and Neal N Nikki in the late 2000s, Tanisha has starred in TV shows like Khatron Ki Khiladi and Bigg Boss in recent times.
3. Shilpa And Shamita Shetty
If there's one pair of sisters whose style is usually on point, it's Shilpa and Shamita. Shilpa has been a film star since the 90s but branched out as a successful entrepreneur with fitness videos, cookbooks and as co-owner to IPL team Rajasthan Royals with her husband. Shamita too tried her hand at acting but after a few roles, Shamita went on to make TV appearances, her most recent one being in webseries Yo Ke Hua Bro last year.
4. Malaika And Amrita Arora
Here's a set of sisters whose sheen hasn't seemed to have faded even after years in the film industry. Malaika found fame as a VJ and model during college and is now known for her song appearances in films, as a co-producer and a TV show judge with a rocking bod. Amrita too tried following in her sister's footsteps but her movies, like Kambakkht Ishq and Team - The Force, failed to make waves at the box office.
5. Riya And Raima Sen
Although we don't hear much about Riya and Raima Sen in the Hindi film industry these days, they were Bollywood's sexiest sister duo in the 2000s. They hail from an illustrious Bengali film family and are daughters of actress Moon Moon Sen. Riya, who delivered plenty of hits in her career as an actress in movies like Jhankaar Beats, was also a model and went on to act in Bengali cinema. She got married in a private ceremony last August. The demure Raima Sen worked in both Hindi and Bengali films through the years and will be seen this year in the movies Vodka Diaries and Varanasi.
6. Kareena And Karisma Kapoor
Possibly the best-known sisters in Bollywood and members of the elite Kapoor clan, Kareena and Karisma are known for their stylish appearances and tight bond with siblings Malaika and Amrita. Kareena has been one of Bollywood's top actresses for years now along with plenty of brand endorsements like Lakme. She is married to Saif Ali Khan with whom she has a son, Taimur. Karisma was leading actress through the late 90s with hits like Raja Hindustani and many awards to her name. She has two children, Samaira and Kiaan, with former husband Sunjay Kapur and continues to endorse many health and food brands.
