Lennon Sunglasses, The Rockstar Shades You Need To Add To Your Summer Wardrobe

From Deepika Padukone to Anushka Sharma, a pair of sunglasses that seems to hold a favourite spot in the fashion wardrobe of celebrities is the Lennon sunglasses. Yes, you guessed it right, it's named after the legendary singer John Lennon, who is credited for making the grandmother glasses become a stylish fashion accessory back in the 60s. The perfectly round, wire framed glasses are once again back in trend with many stylish variations - large frames, tinted or mirrored lenses, or exaggerated earpieces - and we can't help but marvel at the fact that how easily it lends in a rockstar edge to everyday ensembles.

Originally known as 'teashades', the glasses became popular during the hippie movement in the 60s and was therefore often referred to as hippie sunglasses. The sunglasses were typically made of medium-sized, round lenses that were supported by pads at the nose bridge and had a thin wire frame. It is said that the tinted sunglasses started becoming a popular accessory because it helped in hiding bloodshot eyes (due to the effects of drugs).

From oversized and bold shades, the love for minimalist yet chic sunglasses are once again becoming the season's flavour. Deepika Padukone on numerous occasion has been seen sporting black tinged Lennon glasses, especially in the airport.
