Paris-based fashion label, Coperni left the world stunned yet again, as they unveiled their Autumn/Winter 2024 collection at Paris Fashion Week. The brand debuted its new Air Swipe Bag, which is truly a phenomena. The Air Swipe Bag is nothing less than an innovation in the world of fashion, as it is made of 99 percent of air and just 1 percent of glass. Some might say designing a viral handbag isn't rocket science. Well, at Coperni...it sort of is. This bag is developed by Professor Ioannis Michaloudis and is made using NASA's nanomaterial silica aerogel. The official Instagram page of Coperni has shared a video, giving a sneak peek at the bag. The delicate design is kept inside a briefcase, in a specialised foam framing. The all-white bag is oval. It has a lock-shaper transparent framing that appears to be filled with cloud-like ingredients.

It is crafted with nanomaterial silica aerogel, which is dubbed the “lightest solid on planet Earth”. It weighs 33 grams and has the dimensions of 27x16x6 cm. The caption along with the video revealed that NASA used this nanomaterial to capture stardust. In addition, the Air Swipe Bag can withstand extreme heat and pressure. It also revealed that this one-of-a-kind bag is the biggest ever object made out of this space technology. Sharing the video, Coperni wrote, “Made of NASA's nanomaterial silica aerogel, the lightest solid on planet Earth, the Air Swipe bag is made of 99% pure nothing and 1% glass, the glass of the future. This very delicate (and non-fragile) nanomaterial has been used by NASA to capture stardust: because it can withstand extreme heat (1200 Celsius) and a pressure of 4000 times its weight. This Air Swipe bag is the biggest ever object made of this space technology nanomaterial. Developed by Professor Ioannis Michaloudis.”
If you are wondering whether this bag serves any purpose then you aren't alone. The comments section of the post was flooded with many asking what one can carry in this bag. A user commented, “What can you put in it and does it break when you drop it?” The official page was quick to acknowledge the comment and revealed that people can store iPhones in it. It wrote, “An iPhone of course.”
