Kangana Ranaut is no doubt known for her stellar performances on the big screen, making her a popular pick among Bollywood directors. But it is also her habit of experimenting with different fashion trends and carrying them with the right attitude that make her a fashion icon. She is not one to shy away from wearing bold designs or being her glamorous best on the red carpet (or even at the airport!). So, of course, everyone is eagerly looking forward to seeing her make her red carpet debut at 2018 Cannes Film Festival, and she made quite a start by bringing retro style back in trend.

Kangana wore a black, heavily sequinned saree designed by Sabyasachi Mukherjee. The designer on his Instagram account mentioned that Kangana was dressed "in an ultra-glamorous rendition of our famous ''Aakash-tara' (i.e. starry skies) saree. The saree is hand-dyed and embellished with hand-cut sequins that are individually sewn using zardosi technique, to create a metallic, yet fluid fabric."

Her look was accessorised with a batua and the 'teenmaniya' necklace (crafted out of rose-cut diamonds, Colombian emeralds and basra pearls from the Sabyasachi Heritage Jewelry Collection). What made Kangana's look perfect was the way she wore her hair, giving us all major retro vibes in a bouffant-inspired hairdo.

It's not the first time she worked her retro charm. Kangana clearly loves to play around with vintage styles while lending in her own characteristic edge. Remember the time she looked a 50's diva wearing a stunning maroon gown with a ruffled cape by Tony Ward? She had teamed her look with matching lips and hair tied into a bun.

One of her favourite dresses in her fashion wardrobe is a pink, polka dotted Vivienne Westwood dress, which she has also repeated a couple of times.

Even at Neeta Lulla's store launch, she wore high waisted flared pants and teamed in with a ruffle top, taking us back to the 70's.

Her 50's inspired Michael Kors dress with stripe patterns is another stunning example.

Or the time she wore this 60's inspired strapless dress by Russian fashion designer Ulyana Sergeenko.

Even when it comes to sarees, she can make vintage styles look timeless. She looked every bit a royal in this pink, floral printed chiffon saree.

Kangana can even nail a 80's rockstar look, here's proof.
