It's pouring glitter and glamour on the Cannes 2023 red carpet. To add more glitterati, Alessandra Ambrosio showed us the way in a deep plum-coloured gown with a hooded neckline that goes down right into a plunging neckline that serves as the perfect canvas for her drooping diamond necklace. The vintage Elie Saab gown is strategically embellished with sequins that contour her figure effortlessly. Our favourite element of the gown was the hooded feature which clearly seems to be the hot celebrity favourite trend of the season. The gown looks incredible, but the hooded design gives it a little more edge, and the rest is looked after by Alessandra's supermodel flair.

The hooded design earned its place as the hottest trend of the season for a reason. The first to break away from the clutter of non-hooded gowns was Malala Yousafzai at the Oscars 2023. She glittered with the might of all the stars put together in a silver Ralph Lauren that draped her silhouette like a glove. Now, 2023 already seems like the year of the hoodie-featured gown. Malala walked so Alessandra and the rest could run.
In fact, it wasn't just Alessandra Ambrosio who nailed the hooded gown trend on May 16th at Cannes. Not too far away in the luxuriously romantic city of Venice, Anne Hathaway made her presence felt at the unveiling of the new jewellery collection of Bulgari, Mediterranea, dressed in a glistening golden Versace gown that had a detachable hooded element. Adorned with diamonds and rubies on the side, Anne Hathaway was a sight to behold in her version of the trend.
History is proof that anything can look extra chic when you can put a hood on it. Taylor Swift's dazzling catsuit designed by Alexandre Vauthier with a cowl neckline extending into a hood for the iHeart Radio Awards 2022 is one such example and we know we can vouch for the best in the industry to give us hooded fashion back in the game.
The hooded gown trend looks promising for 2023 and we cannot wait to see some more of it this season.
