This week, the pre-engagement party of Akash Ambani and Shloka Mehta ensured the city's quota of starry sparkle. Prior to the couple's engagement, which is scheduled to take place on June 30th, a party was held which saw attendance from some of the country's brightest artists and film stars, of course draped in finery. Amongst faces like Priyanka Chopra, Sachin Tendulkar and Anupama Chopra was the delightful Alia Bhatt.
The 25-year-old star is currently riding high on the success of her movie Raazi. While she's a frequent wearer of ripped jeans and flouncy dresses, at the function, she brought her traditional A-game with an elegant saree. Alia wore a bright pink Manish Malhotra brocade handloom saree with gold borders. With it was a light pink blouse with strategic cutouts over the back and shoulders.
The rest of the look also complemented her ensemble magically. Alia Bhatt went for a radiant makeup look with a pink toned shadow and kohl rimmed eyes, pink lips and a tiny bindi. She wore her hair in a bun with a traditional flower gajra along with earrings that added so much life to it.
All in all, full marks to Alia for acing the sophisticated saree in style. When the young star does opt for Indian wear, it's usually with a lehenga or a salwar suit. It really is a rarity to see her in a saree and watch her wear Indian garment so magnificently.
Which makes us wonder why we don't get to see her in one more often. The last time we saw Alia showcasing a saree was when she received an award last March in pretty pink hues.
Before that, she wore a glitzy sequined sheer Manish Malhotra number for a wedding with smokey eyes and a bun.
Proof enough that Alia Bhatt slays the saree so, can we please get a glimpse of her looking like an absolute dream in it more often? Please and thank you.
