Along with being a talented vocalist and Bollywood actress, a single glimpse at Tara Sutaria will confirm that she's a certified beauty. So while she busies herself with promotions for her upcoming film Tadap with Ahan Shetty, she also landed another project on her plate i.e. brand ambassadorship for Olay. We couldn't think of anyone more fitting so NDTV Swirlster chatted with Tara Sutaria on beauty essentials and the skincare mistake she's definitely not going to make anymore.
NDTV Swirlster: As someone who sets beauty goals constantly, what are your skincare must-haves?
Tara Sutaria: I am very particular about what I eat and while I have a soft spot for snacks, I like to eat foods that have high water and nutritional content, like fresh juices, salads or warm soups as these always balance my plates and give me the nutrition needed for glowing skin and healthy body. I follow a simple routine of cleansing, toning, and moisturizing. I follow this up with my new favourite moisturizer, the Olay Power Duo consisting of Olay Regenerist Micro-sculpting cream with Hyaluronic Acid that instantly hydrates and plumps the skin and protects it from damage along with the Olay Luminous that comes with 99% pure Niacinamide which gives a pearl-like radiance to my skin. This has been the best solution as it gives me a glow all day. It has helped me step out confidently in spite of having extremely hectic days.
NDTV Swirlster: Why is Olay the right fit for you?
Tara Sutaria: I love what Olay stands for as a brand. I always choose to endorse brands that resonate with my personality. It's a brand that really helps women feel their most confident, best selves. I love that about the brand and I fully endorse that we should be confident, empowered and beautiful all the time. It's something that resonates with my personality and I am sure it does with millions of other women as well.
NDTV Swirlster: We'd love to know what's the secret to your radiant skin!
Tara Sutaria: I like keeping it simple when it comes to skincare. I follow a simple routine of cleansing, toning, and moisturizing. I wash my face in the morning with lukewarm and sometimes cold water. Before a shoot, I often put my face in icy cold water or dab ice on my face as it closes my pores and keeps my skin looking plump. I just try to hydrate as much as I can. None of us do it often enough, but hydration, cleansing and moisturizing are key. Being in the Bollywood industry makes these three things even more essential, and I feel this should be on the tip of everyone's beauty regime.

NDTV Swirlster: Do you have any beauty secrets passed down through the generations in your family?
Tara Sutaria: My grandmother used to make my sister and I use a homemade face pack which was either neem-based or a combination of yoghurt, besan, honey and lime. I mix it well and apply it on my skin once a week. It is very relaxing, cools my skin and gives it a refreshed look. When it comes to taking care of my eyes, I apply ice to keep it cool and reduce puffiness.
NDTV Swirlster: What's a beauty product you cannot do without?
Tara Sutaria: I don't like to use too many products on my skin and like to keep my face makeup-free for as long as I can. I believe less is always more so one of my favorite hacks is that I use the Olay Regenerist Whip moisturizer as a base as it is an all-rounder with a matte finish, moisturizer and SPF 30 so I don't need to use multiple products on my skin.
NDTV Swirlster: What's one skincare no-no you'd never forget?
Tara Sutaria: When I was younger, I used to think that when you burst a pimple, it would actually make it go away, which is completely wrong. While there are ways to reduce swelling and pain, it's best to let it be and take its natural course. Leaving your pillowcases unchanged for too long is a big skin care no-no. Also sleeping in your makeup!
