1. You Aren't Blending Enough
Don't imagine that concealer will magically do the work for you once you apply it on your face. It needs to be blended well into the skin with a brush or sponge so that it is barely visible and only disguises what needs to be covered.
2. You're Using Too Much
More isn't better where concealer is concerned. If you use too much of it at one go, your face may end up looking cakey. Instead, first apply and blend a small amount of concealer in a thin layer. If necessary, add a second layer of it and make sure to blend thoroughly.
3. You're Going Too Light
Many believe that concealer it meant to be lighter than your skin tone however, that only makes it more apparent, far too white and almost ghost-like when applied to the face. For troubled areas like pimples and scars, use concealer that is the same shade as your skin. For the undereye area, you can afford to use one or two shades lighter as that can lend a lift to the eyes.
4. You Aren't Setting It
Your job isn't done once you apply concealer, you know. If you leave it as is, it will end up creasing and melting in a few hours. Like the rest of your makeup, concealer too needs to be set in place with powder and spray to ensure it stays put for the rest of the day.
5. You Apply It Before
First comes foundation, then concealer. Foundation is meant to be the base of your makeup look and concealer is the next step to cover up anything additional that's showing through. Like this, you use less concealer and ensure it doesn't get brushed away in the process.
