Dieting, losing weight, going to the gym - these things seem to be in vogue these days. Many do it because they want to be part of the crowd, some do it for vanity, some because they are victims of peer pressure, and hopefully more than anything, people are doing it all because they want to be fit. In a bid to be healthy, our diets are supposed to be closely watched. No matter what your fitness goal is, what you put in your mouth is very relevant to reaching that goal.
It's widely known that sugar, while a good source of energy, doesn't do much for your fitness goals. Therefore most diets demand cutting down sugar content in your meals. And that, lads and ladies, is easier said than done.
But here are some ways.
Stop having processed food
Everything edible you buy that comes in a packet or a box, processed food that is, has a large amount of sugar no matter what the content list says. These include soft drinks (that we mindlessly keep having), the "health drinks", and even fruit juices. Must be avoided. Also avoid alcoholic beverages that need mixers.
Make fruits your source of sugar
Fruits are a great source of a lot of nutrients - fibre, vitamins, and even sugar. They are your body's source of natural sugar and that's great because not only are you satiating your body's need for sugar but also meeting other nutrient requirements.
Plan your sugar intake
If you have your desserts right in the morning, you burn it off faster because morning is when you are most active. Even the choice of dessert is very crucial - maybe take to dark chocolate? Also if you are having something sweet, make sure it's in limits. Choose your dessert days and stick to it.
Easy does it.
