The commonly available herb no doubt works like a miracle in bringing about a refreshing effect, thanks to the presence of an organic substance called menthol. But it isn't just in the kitchen or ancient medicine that it holds value. Mint finds usage in numerous beauty remedies for the skin, hair and the body. It is an excellent source of vitamins (A, C and B6) and minerals like potassium and iron. If you have been turning to natural ingredients to meet your beauty needs, then you should definitely include mint in your beauty rituals.

There are many ways you can make use of mint:

1. As a foot scrub

One of the best ways to make use of mint is to create a refreshing foot scrub at home to chase away the blues post a hard day at work. Believe us when we say that there's nothing quite like it. While menthol works its way to bring about a cooling effect and relieve muscle sores, its strong antibacterial properties help fight against infection and odour.

How to use: Take one cup of granulated sugar, half a cup of olive oil, two tablespoons oatmeal and half a cup of crushed mint. Mix well and use it to gently scrub your feet for 15 minutes in circular motion. Wash will lukewarm water.

2. As a skin toner

Mint works like a natural astringent and helps in restoring the pH in your skin. It is also rich in salicylic acid that helps in fighting acne. Using mint to make a skin toner can help in getting rid of open pores and remove excess dirt and grime from the skin surface.

How to use: Blend a handful of mint leaves and strain out the juice. Add equal parts cold water and with the help of a cotton dab, apply it gently all over your face and neck. Wipe with a wet towel.

3. As a hair rinse

Mint has great antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties. It can also help in cleansing and strengthening your hair, fighting dandruff and boosting hair growth. You can make an easy hair rinse to clean your scalp.

How to use: Boil mint leaves in water for 20 minutes. Strain the leaves and use the water to rinse your hair. Or you can make a hair mask using half a cup mint juice, half a cup thick curd and two tablespoon multani mitti.
