3 Reasons Taking A Lunch Break Is Actually Good For You
Taking a lunch break is good both for your brain and body

Ignoring the number of people who don't budge from their desks all day, even to eat lunch, is quite hard. You might think that you're saving time by having a 'working lunch' or simply avoid taking that break because you don't see anyone else take it. Whatever your reason may be, not taking a break to recharge in the middle of the day can actually do you more harm than good, and can end up slowing you down rather than having the opposite effect. Here are a few reasons taking a lunch break is good both for your brain and body.

1. It will help improve your concentration

Believe it or not, taking a lunch break is not an entire waste of time. While it might give you anxiety to leave your desk and consequently your work for a little while, you're actually doing yourself a favour by taking that break. Taking regular breaks actually improves your cognitive function by allowing your mind to focus on other things and reboot. You will be way more productive by getting up and eating lunch away from your desk, than you will if you continuously sit on your desk and stare at your computer screen all day.

2. Hello, blood circulation

Getting up from your desk and heading out or to the lunch area in your office requires movement. You know what that means? Better blood circulation through your body. Stretching your body out or going for a short walk during your work day is important. Not only does it improve blood circulation, but it also makes sure that you keep your joints moving, therefore making your body less susceptible to cramps and aches.

3. Stress relief, anyone?

Working out is actually a great stress buster. But unfortunately, not everyone has the time (or the will) to get up and go for a workout session in the morning or even post work. Just because you can't get a proper session in, though, doesn't mean you should avoid the small chances you have through the day to get your body moving. Stepping away from things that could be causing stress - such as work - and taking a break is essential. Stress can lead to sleeplessness, irritability and fatigue. That's not something you want right?

Alright, folks, time to go take a break.
