It rained cash from the sixth floor of a building in Kolkata's central business district on Wednesday afternoon. The bizarre shower took place around the time officials of the Department of Revenue Intelligence were searching a private office on that floor.
Currency notes of Rs. 2,000, Rs. 500 and Rs. 100 were seen being pushed out of a window on the floor with a broom. Stunned people on the streets scrambled to get their hands on some of the notes.
Revenue Intelligence sources told news agency PTI that its officials had gone to search the office of a private company engaged in export-imports activities, following allegations of evading duty.

The police say it can't still be said for certain that the cash and the raids were related.
