At least 10 BJP activists were injured when the gun of a city corporator's guard went off accidentally at the party office in Bellary on Tuesday, triggering panic on the eve of an assembly by-election in the district.
Police said as BJP corporator Sanjay entered the office, the gun of his security guard went off, injuring at least 10 persons, including the two.
The injured have been shifted to a hospital, police added.
Polling in the by-election to Bellary Rural constituency is slated for Wednesday, featuring a multi-cornered contest involving BJP, Congress and former minister B Sreeramulu, contesting the poll as an Independent after quitting the saffron party.
