Student commits suicide after alleged harassment

Jaipur: A 20-year-old undergraduate committed suicide on Thursday by hanging herself at her house in Rajasthan's Dausa district , police said. She was reportedly depressed of regular harassment by four youths of her college.

According to police, the incident took place in Mahwa town of Dausa, some 120 km from Jaipur.

"The girl, Diksha Kumari, was a first year Bachelor of Arts (BA) student at a private college in Mahwa," said Mahwa police station in-charge Jetram Vishnoi.

He added that the girl was found hanging from the ceiling of her room on Thursday morning.

"Police recovered a suicide note in which she has alleged that she was being harassed by four youths at her college. Depressed over this, she was taking the extreme step," said the officer.

The officer said that one of the youths had been arrested, while search for the other three is on.
