VHP calls for boycott of Shah Rukh Khan's film

Indore: Toeing the line of Shiv Sena, Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) said on Friday that people should boycott Shah Rukh Khan's new film, given his statement that Pakistani players could have been allowed to participate in the IPL.

International General Secretary of VHP Pravin Togadia said in Indore without taking the name of Shah Rukh's new film (My Name Is Khan) that Pakistan could not hide its role in the terror attack on Mumbai.

Shah Rukh's film should be boycotted given that he has openly taken a favourable stand against those who are against India, he observed adding that the boycott or protests against Shah Rukh should be peaceful.

He said if film personalities start making political statements, they should be prepared for the consequences as well.

He said terrorists continue to come to India from Pakistan and allowing any Pakistani player to come to India to play will amount to encouraging the terrorist elements. He demanded that Pakistani artists should also not be allowed to work in Indian film industry.

Referring to controversy over Mumbai, Togadia said Mumbai and Maharashtra belong to India. People from Maharashtra also are of the same opinion. One should not make an unnecessary issue out of it, he observed.
