A disturbing video has emerged from Jammu and Kashmir's Doda, where a man was assaulted by a police officer. On Wednesday, Anzar Majid Malik lodged a police complaint, stating that Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) Mohd Maqbool Dar assaulted and wrongfully restrained him. A First Information Report (FIR) was filed under relavant sections of the law at the Doda Police Station.
The video of the incident has gone viral. Upholding its zero-tolerance policy towards any misconduct within the force, the Police have set the due legal process into motion. A further investigation into the case is underway.
Road Rage Caught On Camera
ASI Mohd Maqbool Dar, along with his son Ghulam Ali, was travelling in a Maruti Suzuki Ignis (number plate JK06B8824). The car was parked in a marketplace. Dar and Ali exited a shop and were seen entering the Ignis.
Just then, Anzar Majid Malik, travelling in a scooter, parked his vehicle in front of the car. Dar started the car and was taking a left turn, but Malik's scooter was blocking the way. Both Dar and Malik moved their vehicles slightly backward, but the former couldn't move out. A passerby told Malik to move his scooter to the side.
An argument broke out between the occupants of the car and Malik as the latter refused to move his scooter and told the police officer to take a deep left turn. Eventually, Malik reversed his scooter to give way to Dar. As Malik was parking the scooter towards the side, Ali got out of the car, and the argument continued.
Cop Tosses Phone, Slaps Man
Dar got out of the car, tossed away Malik's phone and slapped him repeatedly. Malik got off his scooter, and it looked as if he was trying to retaliate.
However, Dar grabbed Malik and pushed him against a car that braked. The police officer further pushed the man towards the shop, with his son trying to stop the fight.
Malik tried to retaliate again. Eventually, Ali stopped the fight and got inside the car with his father.
Before leaving the area, Ali got out of the car and clicked a photo of Malik's scooter's number plate.
