New Delhi: Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi today said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi should not take credit for ULFA leader Anup Chetia's deportation from Bangladesh.

He said that it was he who continuously demanded the rebel leader's extradition to help ongoing ULFA peace talks with the central and state governments.

Chief Minister Gogoi said he would write to the central government with a request to hand over the ULFA leader to Assam.

Mr Chetia is a key leader of the banned militant outfit ULFA.
