The Delhi-NCR's second airport, Noida International Airport at Jewar, which was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday, is expected to boost developer confidence and drive fresh residential supply in Greater Noida, according to a new report.

The report by Knight Frank India said that Greater Noida has strengthened its position in the NCR residential market on the back of the airport.

The micro-market accounted for 28 per cent of total NCR residential launches in 2025, up from 19 per cent in 2021, indicating growing developer confidence and a sustained pipeline of projects, it said.

Moreover, annual residential launches in Greater Noida rose significantly from 4,415 units in 2021 to 14,000 units in 2025, according to the report.

Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak on Saturday celebrated the opening of the Noida International Airport, ahead of the inauguration, calling it a 'magnificent gift.'

He noted that the airport's launch is a major step toward fulfilling the oath of 'Viksit Bharat'.

Pathak, while speaking to ANI, said, "Today, PM Modi is giving India a magnificent gift. This (Noida International Airport) will not only serve India but will also be the largest airport in Asia... I congratulate the entire state and PM Modi for this achievement. This is a major step toward fulfilling the oath of 'Viksit Bharat'... With the inauguration of this airport, not only will passengers benefit, but the nation will see a significant economic boost..."

Filmmaker Boney Kapoor on Saturday said the upcoming international film city project along the Yamuna Expressway will generate significant employment, as he attended the inauguration of the Noida International Airport at Jewar.

Kapoor, who is a partner in Bayview Projects, the firm tasked with developing the Noida International Film City near the airport, said he was pleased to be present at the event.

"Achha lag raha hai yahan aakar (It feels good to be here). The film city will also begin soon, possibly before the elections. It will generate maximum employment," he told PTI.

Ahead of the inauguration of Phase 1 of the Noida International Airport on Saturday, the Noida Traffic Police has issued a detailed advisory outlining entry routes, diversions and parking arrangements for vehicles, officials said.

According to the traffic plan, the movement of heavy, medium and light goods vehicles will remain restricted on key stretches, including the Noida-Greater Noida Expressway, Yamuna Expressway and adjoining routes. However, emergency services will be permitted to use these corridors.

Vehicles approaching from Meerut and Ghaziabad will be diverted via the Eastern Peripheral Expressway. They will exit at Sirsa Toll and proceed through designated roundabouts before reaching the venue.

Traffic coming from Mathura and Aligarh through the Yamuna Expressway will be directed to exit at Jewar Cut and then enter via the Sabauta Underpass and Kishorpur Gate.

Similarly, commuters from Hapur, Bulandshahr and nearby regions will be rerouted along the Jewar-Khurja road and allowed entry through Parohi Gate.

Commuters travelling from Noida and Greater Noida via the Noida-Greater Noida Expressway will be diverted through specified roundabouts and service lanes, and will enter through a temporary gate set up near the Ranehra Police Post.

Two-wheelers and other light vehicles will be allowed entry through Kishorpur Gate, which will also be used by vehicles coming from Jewar town.

The airport will have an initial annual capacity of 1.2 crore passengers, which can be scaled up to 7 crore in a few years. The first phase features a 3,900-meter runway capable of handling wide-body aircraft, as well as modern navigation systems, including Instrument Landing System (ILS) and advanced airfield lighting.

With a 3,900-metre runway equipped for low-visibility operations and a terminal designed for rapid passenger processing, the upcoming Noida International Airport is positioning itself to handle both winter fog disruptions and high passenger throughput, as it prepares to begin commercial operations in April 2026.
