Lucknow: Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav today attacked BJP-led NDA regime at the Centre and said that it came to power on "false slogans" and has "cheated" the people of the country.

"This government has been formed on false slogans and promises and the people have been cheated," Yadav said while addressing his party workers after hoisting flag at party headquarters in Lucknow.

He claimed that during Lok Sabha elections, it was promised that black money would be brought back and Rs 15 lakh would be deposited in the account of every citizen.

"Has Rs 15 lakh been deposited in the bank accounts, you tell me," he questioned.

He alleged that farmers were facing tough time as neither they were getting profitable price of their produce nor seed and fertiliser on time.

"Youths are victim of unemployment. The gap between poor and rich is not shrinking and there is large scale resentment in the country. Samajwadis will prepare the people for an agitation against this," he said.

Emphasising on special opportunity and promotion to farmers, the former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister supremo said that economy depends on the prosperity of farmers.

Mr Yadav said that even today, 65 per cent people were dependent on farming and their land should not be acquired forcibly.

Independence Day was the occasion when people should take resolution to fulfill dreams of Mahatma Gandhi, which have been forgotten after independence, he said, adding that people should raise their voices against injustice.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav, Health Minister Ahmad Hasan and other senior leaders were present on the occasion.
