New Delhi: With the Narendra Modi Government set to complete its first year in office on May 25, ministries have been asked to show how its initiatives have benefitted people across sections of society.

In a recent communication, Information and Broadcasting Secretary Bimal Julka has sought from different ministries, details of their achievements and how the government's policies and initiatives have left a mark at the ground level.

The Information & Broadcasting Ministry, under whose mandate it is to carry out publicity on behalf of the government, has also sought information from ministries on the "contrast" between what was the situation before these initiatives and programmes and what has been achieved now.

"The Information & Broadcasting Ministry has sought inputs from different various ministries regarding success stories which can be projected to show the difference the government has made in its first year of office," a source said.

In the coming weeks, there will be meetings of senior officials to draw up a communication plan for projecting these achievements.

The Information & Broadcasting Ministry is also mulling various options regarding the kind of events it plans to hold to mark the event. One of the ideas was to hold a 'talkathon' with the Prime Minister, sources said.

They added that there is a point of view, as per which the government could focus more on how its plans have helped the people and how the schemes and initiatives are a foundation for a lot of work that will be accomplished in the future.

"Rather than making it a celebratory exercise, it is felt that, it should be more of a people centric exercise, letting them know on how the government has worked and how its policies are benefitting them," the source added.
