Mercury soars in north India, Churu nears 50 degrees
New Delhi: Rajasthan is now in the grip of a severe heat wave. Temperatures in all the 33 districts of the state have soared beyond 41 degree Celsius with Churu being the hottest at over 48 degrees.

Temperatures in Ganganagar and Bikaner are around 46 degree Celsius.

From early morning till night, the blazing heat is a huge problem for people.

With north India reeling under a severe heat wave, most people are turning to paradise - the Kashmir valley is choc-a-bloc with tourists as the maximum temperature in Srinagar is 15 degrees less than the rest of north India.

"We have come down to J&K for the first time. We have heard a lot about J&K from people and have also read about it. So, we thought of coming down for tour here. We have just come here and right now we have started-off with our trip today," said one of the tourists.

"In Kashmir we will go to Shayun Baug , will go to Gulmarg, will go to Palmerg,and lastly we will go to Vaishno Devi," said another.

Apart from Churu, other cities also recorded temperatures well into the 40s:

  • Delhi - 44°C
  • Amritsar - 45°C
  • Agra - 45°C
  • Gwalior - 43°C
  • Bhopal - 44°C
