Mumbai:

Multiple teams from the city police are likely to be sent to question Mohammed Omar Madni, suspected aide of Lashkar-e-Toiba founder Hafiz Saeed, in connection with the 2006 serial train blasts case and other cases.

"We are in touch with Delhi Police authorities and after getting more information from them, we will be sending a team to interrogate him," Additional Director General (Anti-Terrorism Squad) K P Raghuvanshi said on Saturday.

The Delhi Police, while seeking Madni's custody, had said he was found to have recruited Kamal Ansari, arrested by the ATS in connection with the train blasts that killed over 180 persons.

Ansari is among 13 arrested for their alleged involvement in planting the bombs aboard the suburban trains in Mumbai. The ATS has filed its chargesheet in the case.

The Crime Branch of the city police will also send a team to Delhi to interrogate him for possible involvement in cases.

"So far, we have not found any involvement in our cases but will definitely be sending a team to question Madni," a senior police official said.

Delhi Police said that Madni, arrested on Thursday, was working to recruit fresh hands for the outfit from major cities in the country and had revealed vital inputs about LeT operatives working against India in Nepal.
