Karnataka crisis: Speaker was unconstitutional, says Congress
New Delhi: After the BJP government proved majority on the floor of the house by voice vote amid chaos after BS Yeddyurappa moved the confidence motion, the Congress has slammed the government on the trust vote.

Addressing a press conference, Congress Spokesperson Manish Tewari said that the Speaker misued his post and acted against democratic norms.

"The 16 rebel MLAs were disqualified illegally, and the BJP subverted the constitution to cling on to power," said Tewari.

He also said that the BJP was not sure about the trust vote and has attempted to convert a minority government into a majority government, and after what happened, the fascist face of BJP has been exposed.

"In the Karnataka legislative assembly, the Speaker misused the provisions of the 10th schedule of the constitution and attempted to convert a minority government into a majority government. There has been no such example in independent India till now," Tewari said.
