J&K Govt starts to remove 16 bunkers from Srinagar
Srinagar: As the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly starts a crucial debate on civilian strife in the Valley, the Omar Abdullah government has started removing bunkers of security forces from some parts of Srinagar city.

The decision to remove 16 bunkers was taken during the Unified Headquarters meeting on September 29 in Srinagar as part of the Centre's eight-point Kashmir peace initiative. (Read: Confidence building measures in Valley: Unified command meets)

The high-level meeting saw decisions on a series of measures to be followed up on after the an all-party cetral delegation visited the state.

It was decided that the state government would set up two groups of senior police and Army officers in Srinagar and Jammu to identify areas where the government could de-notify the Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA).
