New Delhi: Ahead of the new government's first budget next month, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley today briefed his BJP's media managers.

Mr Jaitley met all BJP spokespersons and  TV debate regulars at his office. Among them were Meenakshi Lekhi, Shaina NC and Nalin Kohli.

"He wants to give them a clear view of the BJP's stand on the budget and wants to ensure that everyone is on the same page," a BJP leader said.

Sources say Mr Jaitley discussed not just the budget, but wide-ranging subjects including Delhi politics and the controversy over union minister Nihalchand Meghwal, who is being targeted by the opposition after a woman in Jaipur accused him of raping her.

"Such meetings with Mr Jaitley could be a regular feature," said a BJP leader.

Mr Jaitley has briefed party spokespersons several times in the past, but it's the first time he is doing so as the country's finance minister.

BJP leader Shahnawaz Husain, who attended the meeting, said, "We spoke to Arun Jaitley about government work. We get advice from him and follow it."
