The Income Tax (I-T) department investigating the misappropriation of funds and overlays scams has adopted a multi-pronged approach to nail the culprits.
- The I-T sleuths are preparing a list of officials who were part of awarding the contracts and selecting contractors.
- The focus is to find out how contracts went to only a favoured few?
- Who were the beneficiaries and how were the profits routed?
- Details of travel documents both foreign and domestic by officials, contractors and relatives are being collected
- A numerous bank documents, contract papers, receipts, hard disks and pan card details have been seized
- Forensic experts are working round the clock to trace deleted files and even mails
