Couple, 8-year-old daughter murdered in Bangalore

Bangalore: The decomposed bodies of three members of a family were found in a house in Bangalore after family members and colleagues were unable to get in touch with them.

Rahul Das, an interior decorator, his wife Pushpalatha and their eight-year-old daughter Agneesha were murdered in their home; the motive is still unclear. The family was originally from Bangladesh but had lived in Bangalore for years.

"I had a last talk with my sister-in-law on Sunday to wish for Deepavali. After that I didn't have a talk. My father used to talk from Assam. I came to know that they were not traceable on Thursday. That was a serious matter so I tried to contact through my mobile phone but all mobile phones were switched off. Land phone is ringing but nobody is picking up," said Dr Kushal Das, brother.

The grieving relatives left behind could come to Bangalore only in time to cremate them.

"It looks as if this murder was committed three or four ago. From the evidence on the spot -- in the bathroom where the bodies were found -- it looks as if they were smothered and their heads pushed into water. It looks as if the little girl Agneesha was sharpening her pencil, heard a noise and came in and they killed her too," said Bangalore Police Commissioner Shankar Bidari,

Shocked colleagues said the family was alive on Tuesday. The motive for the murder is still not clear, as there is no confirmation that anything was stolen.

Now, the next step is the investigation as those connected with the family are being questioned at the Banaswadi police station. There may be some measure of relief for the family if those behind this terrible triple murder are brought to face justice.
